ENCORS is designed for research security practitioners, policy makers, institutional leaders, professionals, experts, scholars, senior academics and decision makers from academic organisations in Europe who are interested in research security challenges and solutions.

ENCORS offers a unique opportunity to be part of shaping European practice in research security. You'll gain insights from leading experts, learn practical strategies for protecting your research, connect with peers facing similar challenges, and contribute to the vital conversation about keeping open research secure.

ENCORS 2026 is hosted by Delft University of Technology, at their campus in Delft, The Netherlands. It takes place from May 26 to May 27, 2026. Information about the exact location can be found under Practical info.

Yes, this is the inaugural edition of ENCORS. We're establishing this as an annual event that will become the go-to gathering for research security professionals across Europe. Join us in making history as we launch this important platform for research security dialogue and collaboration.

The programme starts on Tuesday May 26 at 9.00 CET and ends on Wednesday May 27 at 16:30.

To protect the privacy of all participants and considering the nature of the topic:

  • The conference will adhere to the Chatham House Rule: participants are free to use the information shared, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of speakers or participants may be disclosed without explicit permission.
  • Please be considerate when taking photos of other participants and sharing them publicly, including on social media.
  • Respect others' privacy during discussions, both in formal sessions and informal settings.
  • The organization will capture photos and videos for communication and promotional purposes. Please contact the photographer if you have any concerns or wish to be exempted from this activity.

Registration and admission

This conference is not for profit. The conference fee is to cover cost only.

  • Registrations are strictly personal: no transfer to another person or another year.
  • Fees include lunch but no dinner or social events
  • Upon submitting your registration, you will receive an acknowledgment confirming that your request has been received. Please note that this does not confirm your participation.
  • Registration is only possible on an individual basis.
  • Registrations are strictly personal, and transfers to another person or for future conferences are not allowed.
  • Payment is only possible by credit card, PayPal, or iDEAL. Payment by invoice is not possible. However, you will receive a digital invoice immediately after payment has been completed.
  • Due to the limited capacity of the venue and the nature of the topic, priority for participation will be given to practitioners, policymakers, experts, and stakeholders within the European research and innovation community.
  • The conference organisation will also consider the distribution of participants across various European countries and institutions.
  • Registrants will either receive a final confirmation of their registration, a notification indicating they have been placed on a waiting list, or a notification of rejection.
  • To achieve a good balance among participants, we apply waiting lists and quotas per country and per institution during the initial period of registration. From May 1 onwards, no quotas will be applied (first come, first served) until the number of registrations has reached the venue’s maximum capacity.
  • Applicants who meet the quota criteria are admitted in order of application date.
  • The organisers reserve the right to decline or revoke access to the conference at any time.
  • The full admission policy document can be provided upon request at the organisation.
  • In case of cancellation, you can contact the conference organisation by e-mail.
  • Refund policy: 50% until May 1, 2026; no refunds on or after May 1, 2026.

ENCORS addresses critical research security topics including unwanted knowledge transfer, covert influence in research, misuse of research results, and strategies for keeping open research secure. The programme provides practical insights, policy perspectives, exchange of experience and network opportunities on the following themes:

ENCORS is a two-day event featuring multiple formats including inspiring keynotes from leading experts, engaging interactive workshops, cutting-edge panel discussions on research security challenges, and structured networking opportunities designed to facilitate meaningful connections between participants.

The workshops at ENCORS are engaging, interactive sessions designed to provide practical insights and hands-on experience with research security challenges. Led by experts in the field, these workshops will cover real-world scenarios and best practices for protecting research while maintaining openness.

ENCORS features "networking by design" – structured opportunities built into the program to help you connect with fellow professionals, experts, and decision makers in the research security field. These include dedicated networking sessions, informal discussion groups, and social events throughout the two-day conference.

A conference app will enhance this experience by allowing participants to easily connect with each other and find peers or experts of interest.
